By now our adventures had taken us deep within the Lich King's frozen fortress. We have battled the abominations of The Plagueworks and vanquished the vampires of The Crimson Halls, yet the path to the Lich King himself is still blocked by the final magical barrier.
However on February 3rd this barrier was destroyed and access to the final wing of the citadel was granted. The following reset we assembled 10 raiders and converged once again on Icecrown to face the new challenges inside. Quickly clearing the Lower Spire, we made our way to the middle of the citadel and headed for The Frostwing Halls whereupon we encountered our new chum Crok Scourgebane, a former Death Knight assigned to aid us against the enemies emerging from the dark innards of the Frostwing Halls.
Progressing forwards we encountered Sister Svalna, tasked to prevent any progress towards the Frost Queen Sindragosa dwelling deep within the bowels of the halls. A task important enough to distribute an extra Emblem of Frost upon her death it would seem, which nobody could complain at. Scourgebane stayed behind to set up camp for his allies, and as we moved on we found ourselves in a massive room in which Valithria Dreamwalker, enslaved member of the Green Dragonflight, was being supressed by several lich servants.
We quickly summoned the courage to slaughter these lich, only to hear the sound of rusty chains spin into action, unlocking two gates immediately on either side of the dragon. We immediately split our force and spread out towards the sides, but we were eventually overwhelmed by the amounts of enemies flooding from the gates. Frantically we fought to minimize damage done to everyone, allowing the healers to attempt to bring the dragon back to full strength using the nightmare portals Valithria summoned to help us, but we quickly came to realize a change of tactic was required.
Immediately following this change of direction, we saw the blazing skeletons die in a blaze of their own, supressers being supressed and liches, zombies and abominations being decimated before our feet, and after no more than 5 minutes Valithria was infused with power, destroying any scourge minions that remained.
Now only one enemy stood between us and the Lich King. The Frost Queen herself, Sindragosa, who has taunted us with her roar on the Login screen for many a month now. Having been resurrected by the Lich King, she is infuriated by the betrayal she suffered before her demise and hatred is all she feels towards every dragon and mortal. Taking the elevator down and coping with copious amounts of spiders (and reputation) we found an icy balcony overlooking Icecrown, occupied by numerous whelps which were obliterated forthwith.
Upon decimation of their beloved whelps, Sindragosa's two lieutenants Rimefang and Spinestalker descended from the air, ready to protect their Queen at all costs. Their efforts were quickly proven futile, and as we gathered at the center of the balcony we could hear the beating of skeletal wings above us.
Sindragosa's eyes flamed with anger as she landed and engaged us in combat, and it was soon evident that she would be no easy conquest. Battling against her chilling defenses placing debuffs upon us with every strike and every spell, and freeing comrades encased in ice, the fight was long to say the least. As she weakened, her mood became even more temperamental and soon ice tombs and debuffs were flying everywhere. We couldn't hold out against this sudden surge in power, and retreated for the time being.
Adopting a new strategy, we attempted to assign a methodical approach to control this madness, and soon progress was being made. Calming our nerves before the reset, 10 brave souls gathered up before the balcony once more. Practice paid off. Co-ordination was the key and with everyone fast on their toes and keeping an eye out for both friend and foe alike, the Frost Queen herself was finally defeated.
The Halls of Icecrown are now empty, yet in middle of the citadel a large blue beacon has sprung to life. An untold chill emanating from here tells us that the Lich King has waited long enough, and that he is prepared to face us himself atop his citadel.
