Following our triumph over the dastardly Professor Putricide and his creations, the next week we opened a war on a second front: The Crimson Hall.
After ploughing through groups of Darkfallen Blood Elf followers we stood on the brink of a staircase staring at the leader of the San'layn, the reincarnated Blood-Queen Lana'thel. Having been a servant of Arthas since her defeat following the loss of the Sunwell, she is one in charge of overseeing the Scourge's operations all over Azeroth. Hovering before us, we noticed below her the corpses of her 3 advisors, Keleseth, Valanar and Taldaram, killed by us in Utgarde Keep, Naxxanar and Ahn'Kahet respectively.
However the Lich King sees death as a release, not a punishment, and their bodies were transported back to the Citadel where they would continue to serve for all eternity, with the Blood-Queen responsible for their return to the mortal world. She left them with the simple message - destroy the intruders.
As all three of them engaged in combat it became evident that although they were powerful, only one at a time would be able to wield powers comparable to the level they once possessed. Regardless of this, chaos ensued for the first tries as we adapted to each of the Princes' empowered capabilities whilst learning to maintain awareness of the magic being used by their companions. Inevitably the Princes could not hold out forever against our combined forces including a DK wielding giant purple balls, and a Wasp/Felguard combo bouncing beach balls of their own - soon we brought them down, defeated.
With his dying breath Keleseth warned the Blood-Queen of our approach as we looked to ascend the spiral staircase leading towards Lana'thel herself. Disposing of the few sentries guarding her we found her upon her throne, fearlessly waiting for us.
Armed with courage we proceeded to engage our formidable foe. Not only was her Shroud of Sorrow impossible to resist, but her vampiric tendencies went unrestrained during the encounter as she bit one of our number. While this gifted them with overwhelming powers, the curse hidden within would send them into an uncontrollable frenzy after little over a minute unless the carrier sated their appetite by biting another and spreading the disease. Confident in herself the Blood-Queen assumed no mortal would be able to defeat her, and 10 souls enslaved to her will would surely be a fitting trophy.
It took a short period to adapt to her style of fighting, but with every member being bitten the combined powers of our raid proved too much for her in the end and with 8 attempts remaining we were happy to declare her no more.
Once again we must wait until the final barrier protecting the Frostwing Halls is shattered, so that we may claim our prize and earn the right to take on the Lich King.
